Fish carrier buys Scots shipping line - Fishupdate.com
Fishupdate.com: News » Processing. THE main fresh fish carrier between Iceland and the Faroe Islands and the Humber has just purchased an up and coming Scottish shipping business as part of its continuing growth plans.Iceland based Samskip announced at the weekend it had acquired Glasgow-based Saltire Integrated Shipping Ltd for an undisclosed figure. Saltire was set up just three years ago by businessmen Sandy Valentine and Peter Work. Samskip, which has two ultra modern fish carriers regularly operating between Iceland and Immingham, near Grimsby, has been on a steady expansion march for the past two years to include both fish and non-fish logistics services. Samskip is no stranger to the Scottish logistics market having had a commercial presence for its Reefer Logistics and Iceland Line products since 2004. Also, through the acquisition of multimodal operator Seawheel in 2005, Samskip entered into the European and Scandinavian door to door movement of cargoes utilising its Meat and Seafood processing equipment
